Mount Damavand Trekking Itinerary
Mount Damavand’s best climbing itinerary is a 3days plan starting from Camp One, Polour resort, and going by road to summer base camp or second campsite, (Goosfand-Sara or Mosque), then hiking from there to high camp, Bargah Sevom. Trekking Mount Damavand Iran
Damavand is one of the most easily accessible 5000-meter peaks in the world.

The suggested Damawand Mountain trekking and climbing season is between June and September. In winter it is recommended only for experienced climbers. Damavand has 16 trekking routes with different difficulties.

Ascent to the Mt Damavand summit is technically easy but physically a challenging hike, the main challenge of climbing is acclimatization. If the Damavand Weather Forecast is good enough, the ideal tour package to reach Damavand Peak takes about four to five days. Because you have to do acclimatization and adaptation climbs to prevent altitude sickness, it means going higher than campsites and then return to get used to the altitude. However, strong and physically fit climbers may be able to reach the summit only in two days. There are shelters, camps, and huts along the way. The easiest route to reach the summit is hiking from the southern face. With two camps in the middle at 4220 and 4250 meters.

Mount Damavand Weather

In general terms, Damavand Mountain in Iran has two climates for hiking trekking and ski touring. Mount Damavand’s Weather is moderate in the summer season, but it is cold in other seasons!  The best weather forecast for Mt Damavand hiking trekking, and climbing guided tours is from mid-June to mid-September. This period is called Mt. Damavand Summer Season or Damavand trekking season. This is the best timing and has the ideal climate for Mount Damavand hike & trek tours.

Mount Damavand Trekking Season
At this time of year, Mt. Damavand’s weather is quite mild, there is not much snow left on Damavand trekking routes and most footpaths are free of snow.

Remember in Damavand Mountain trekking and climbing season. Damavand Mountain campsite, tenting area, shelters and refuges are crowded at Iranian weekends and holidays.  To meet the least possible Crowd problem at weekends in Damavand trekking season and to enjoy your trekking tour to Damavand and other Iran cultural sightseeing tours it is highly recommended to avoid Iran Public Holidays. In Iran, the official weekend is Thursday and Friday.
Saturday is the best starting day for Mount Damavand trekking, and climbing guided tour packages.

Remember even in summertime and during Damavand trekking season you need a good weather forecast for any successful attempt to Mount Damavand Peak from any route. Also in any weather condition bring enough mountain equipment and clothing. Always reserve a couple of days in your program for bad weather or more acclimatization.

Damavand Off-Season
The other seasons (October to May) are called Damavand Off-Season and are considered a tough climate for trekking and climbing tours.

Mount Damavand Weather in Spring (April, May)
Due to cold weather and the remaining ice and snow left on the mountain, hiking trekking and climbing Mount Damavand is difficult in spring mainly because the weather is unstable and cold. However, it is suitable for Mount Damavand Ski Touring and Snowboarding, especially in April.

Damavand Mountain ski season is mainly dependent on the amount of snowfall in the area. The amount of snow is different each year and it depends on the weather and climate change. Damavand ski season may start from mid-November and last until mid-May. Damavand Ski Tours generally go in March & April. It is highly recommended that you check the snow conditions in advance before you fix your program and travel to the area.

Mt Damawand’s nature is beautiful in spring, especially for its natural red poppy fields which start blooming in May in lower slopes and gradually cover the upper parts. May and June are the best months for natural and eco-hiking & trekking tours.

Mt Damavand Weather in Summer (mid-June, July, August, mid-September)
Mount Damavand’s weather is relatively mild in the summer season and ideal for hiking and trekking tours. This mountain is a popular climbing peak in July and August due to its fine weather conditions.

Remember Damavand weather is fine mostly in summer, but it could change quickly without any warning, the temperatures may drop too far below zero, so to be on the safe side it is advised to bring enough gear and warm clothes even during good weather conditions.

Damavand Mountain Weather in Autumn (September, October)
Autumn weather on Mt Damavand Iran is generally cold and very windy. Due to cold weather, there is no running water in the area. But mountain shelters are not crowded. You are advised to bring good winter Equipment with you. Due to the icy footpath Damavand ascending and descending is difficult.

Damavand Weather forecast in Winter (November, December, January, February, March)
Mount Damavand’s winter weather may start in October and last until April. Winter climbing to Damavand’s summit is very tough and highly risky. Because of strong winds and very cold weather, snow, ice and other risks, Damavand winter climbing is graded very difficult. Mount Damavand Ski Touring 
Due to the vicinity of the Caspian Sea, there are heavy snowfalls on Damavand ski fields in winter. Damavand Ski season for ski and snowboard tours is from December to mid-May, the best ski months are March & April.

For Mount Damavand Winter Climbing and Ski Touring, you need very highly skilled experienced ski or mountain guides. Cars cannot go up to the base camp and it is not possible to use mules in the area, so you should carry all equipment yourself or use porters. Visit also Damavand Meteo.

In the winter season, shelters need some cleaning from snow and garbage if you are lucky enough to find them under snow! For a safe and successful Damavand winter climbing and ski touring you should be very experienced and well-equipped. Also, you need good timing and suitable weather.
