The climb usually begins at the west front base camp in Vararood. Be sure to visit the Damavand trekking tour as well.
The base camp is located at an elevation of around 3,400 meters above sea level. From the parking lot, you must hike to the Simorgh shelter. A notable feature of the Simorgh campsite is the availability of running water. You can spend the night at the Simorgh refuge or the tenting area. The hike from the parking lot to the Simorgh shelter takes about 3-4 hours. From there, reaching the west summit of the Damavand volcano crater can take 5-7 hours, depending on your physical condition, breathing capacity, and level of preparedness.
